SCHOOL LOCKDOWN DRILLS:

A Moms Perspective

Like many parents, I have a child that goes to school. Preparing him and myself for a possible active shooter at school s NOT something I should have to fear. It is not something I believe we should have to prepare for. It is not something that we should have to discuss. It is not FAIR! IT IS NOT RIGHT! And yet, it is our reality.

I feel powerless and full of rage that I cannot protect my child from this.

Happy Mother's Day 2022

In an attempt to be “real, raw and honest” we tend to highlight the not so pretty unspoken truths about motherhood. While these truths can be overwhelming, scary and ugly do not ever misinterpret my venting as regret.

I have sacrificed my body, given up my dream career, neglected myself and lost myself quite a few times in this mommy journey. But I would do it over and over again for Hunter and Phoenix!   There is no greater joy than watching them grow, learn, and change right before my eyes.

To Vaccinate Or Not To Vaccinate That Is The Question ?

As most of you know, I am a mother of two. I have a son, Hunter, who is 6 and a daughter, Phoenix, who is 1 1/2. I like to believe that I am an informed skeptic.

When it comes to vaccinating my children, I have always believed in doing it slowly and seeing how they react. I am grateful for the pediatricians I had and have because I have never felt pressured to do things outside of my comfort zone. I have never rushed to vaccinate my kids nor allowed a doctor to administer more than two vaccines at a time (and never two new vaccines at once). Before the vaccines are administered, I always ask for the lot number and look them up. I have no problem refusing a vaccine if there are any suspicious reports or if I did not feel comfortable.

COVID vaccination is an entirely different decision. While my husband, Jose´, and I are fully vaccinated, we were solely motivated by fear.

Pandemic Parenting Woes

**My struggles during this pandemic and how I am coping**

Homeschooling a toddler (Hunter, 5) with an infant (Phoenix, currently 15 months) has been quite the endeavor. Homeschooling has always had its challenges as it is difficult to be a teacher and a mom. I struggle with knowing when to push and knowing when Hunter has reached his capacity for the day as it varies daily. Initially, my plan for this year was for Hunter to attend school in-person, but with the pandemic, we decided to keep him home another year.

LABOR EXPERIENCE DURING A PANDEMIC

If you follow me on instagram (@BronxMommy) and read my blog, you know how scared I was about labor.  Add a pandemic and I was completely petrified about my delivery.

MY 1st BORN LABOR STORY

I have a four year old son, named Hunter.

Hunter has been my entire world since the day he was born.

I spent 38 hours in labor.

To say I was prepared is an understatement. I had taken labor/lamaze classes, CPR training, two lactation courses and had my birthing plan all set. My midwives were all aware of my wishes to have a natural water birth and I showed up to the hospital with my medicine ball, a diffuser with lavender, my hospital bag, the baby’s bag and my husband and mom. Ironically, no preparation could have prepared me for the agonizing 38 hours I had to endure to have my baby boy.

QUARANTINE POSTPONEMENTS!!!!!!!

Corona  aka COVID19 has postponed everything!!!!

Schools have been closed, movie theaters have been shut down, broadway shows are postponed, there are no sports and everyone is on standby. However, there are some things that will continue ... this pandemic cannot postpone or reschedule or cancel my impeding labor. I am officially 37 weeks pregnant and I am going to have a baby in a few weeks with or without a pandemic. I think it is important that I repeat this ....

IN A FEW WEEKS WITH OR WITHOUT A PANDEMIC I WILL BE HAVING A BABY!!!
